Villa Artemis | Sleeps 2-8 | from £1,470 per week

Villa Artemis is located in an old abandoned village called Paliostari, just a short drive from Fiskardo. Built in the late 19th Century by Georgios Charitatos the villa is listed as one of the islands preserved buildings by the Ministry of Energy and Environment. The traditional stone villa is situated high on a hill above Fiskardo Bay and is surrounded by cypress forest that fall down to the sea. The property consists of the main house on three floors, sleeping six people with a neighbouring stone studio, sleeping two people.

Villa Artemis sits perfectly in the surrounding virgin landscape of wild beauty and has fantastic views of the Ionian sea and the mythological islands of Ithaca and Lefkada.

All furnishings are individual, hand-crafted pieces especially commissioned for the property and are complimented by tastefully chosen antique pieces that have been in the family for generations. The house was built at first in the 19th century being fully refurbished according to the islands long tradition.

The owner's grandmother Artemis, recounted stories of her childhood in this beautiful place with its secret paths to hidden beaches. At night she and her brothers would sit for hours gazing at the stars and the moon in the open sky.

The main house has a spacious open plan living room, a well equipped kitchen and dining area. On this level, there is also a good-sized bathroom with shower. The second level has a double bedroom and a twin bedroom which share a bathroom. Stairs lead to a large attic under the eaves with two single beds.

A stone guest studio next to the main house has two single beds, living area, kitchenette and a separate shower with W.C.

Villa Artemis has a  fully equipped kitchen, where you could cook your favourites meals, but also BBQ facilities. The building is equipped with air-conditioning, Satellite LCD TV, DVD player and Wi-Fi.

Outside there is a large outdoor dining area under the shade of a pergola as well as a large barbecue. The swimming pool is 5m x 8m with a large, wrap-around sunbathing terrace and views over Fiskardo Bay and pristine cypress forest.

The nearest shops and tavernas are about a 5-10 min drive away. The picturesque fishing town of Fiskardo with its brightly painted neo-classical houses clad in a dazzling array of bougainvillea is a favourite anchorage for yachts and is about a 15 min drive away. There are many beautiful beaches - Foki Beach, Emblissi, Agia Jerusalem and Alaties - all within a short drive.

Beaches we like to visit

Within 15 minutes drive

Agia Jerusalem beach is a pebble beach with crystal clear water making for great paddling, swimming and if you like to snorkel it's worth swimming out to the rocks where you will find much more marine life than in the bay itself. In high season sun-beds are available for hire on the beach and there is a taverna serving traditional Greek food.

Alaties beach is small but perfectly formed where you can lap up the sunshine either on the beach itself or on the surrounding rocks. There’s good parking available and a beach bar serving food all day and into the evening where you can watch the sun set with a cocktail in hand.

Foki beach is in a protected bay with a shady olive grove and a cave to swim to and explore as well as a taverna close-by.

Emblissi beach just outside of Fiskardo is easily accessible, has great swimming, wonderful views across to Lefkas and Meganisi. There's good parking although it does get busy in July and August.

Kimilia beach is a hidden gem accessible only by boat or by foot by following a winding forest path. We recommend you take food and as there are no facilities at the beach.

Dafnoudi beach with its crystal clear water is worth the 10-15 minute hike down from where you park. Of course you can also access the beach by boat. We recommend you take food and water as there are no facilities at the beach.
