A charming rustic cottage that forms part of a unique and authentic old greek farmhouse with magnificent views of the Ionian Sea.
Full of character and rustic charm the Farmhouse Cottage is perfect for the independent traveller who is seeking a unique stay offering no-frills lodgings. The cottage is sited next to the main farmhouse where our owner lives. Wide stone walls keep the house cool in the Summer and there are plenty of shady areas to relax and enjoy the sea views and a large private garden with mature trees, aromatic herbs and pretty flowers to explore.
Over 40 years ago, Tony and Uta sailed to the island and whilst exploring discovered this peaceful old farmhouse with its wonderful views over the West coast of Kefalonia. They decided to stay and restore the property. 40 years on the house has been passed down a generation and is still one of the most magical places to stay in North of the Island. Now under the full management of Ionian Property Services Greece, a full refurbishment is underway of the house to upgrade the facilities and offer an even better experience.
The Cottage's accommodation is private with stunning views west over the Ionian Sea. There is a large double bedroom and a twin room that share a bathroom. Access to the twin room is through the double bedroom. There is a small, simple kitchen that has its own entrance. Outside is a covered veranda with a table and bench for alfresco dining and a separate 'outdoor living room' with sofas and shade.

The property is within walking distance of 2 beaches, 3 minutes drive from 2 tavernas and 15 minutes drive from the famous village of Fiskardo with its boutique shops, tavernas and bars.

It is a 15 minute drive from Farmhouse Cottage into Fiskardo where there is a large choice of tavernas and restaurants serving local specialties as well as a number of bars where you can sit and watch the boats come into the harbour. The harbour is lined with small shops and boutiques as well as ATMs, two bakeries, supermarkets, chemist, chandler and the Fiskardo Dive Centre for those wishing to adventure beneath the waves.
The village of Magganos is a 5 minute drive and has two small supermarkets with fresh bread daily and a good selection of fruit and veg and other daily staples in the two supermarkets.
Beaches we like to visit
Within 5 minutes drive
Agia Jerusalem beach is a pebble beach with crystal clear water making for great paddling and swimming. In high season there are sun-beds for rent on the beach and there is a taverna serving traditional Greek food.
Alaties beach is small but perfectly formed where you can lap up the sunshine either on the beach itself or on the surrounding rocks. There’s good parking available and a beach bar serving food all day and into the evening where you can watch the sun set with a cocktail in hand.
Within 15 minutes drive
Foki beach is in a protected bay with a shady olive grove and a cave to swim to and explore as well as a taverna close-by.
Emblisi beach is easily accessible, has great swimming and parking is close to the beach although it does get busy in July and August.
Kimilia beach is a hidden gem accessible only by boat or by foot by following a winding forest path. We recommend you take food and water as there are no facilities at the beach.
Dafnoudi beach with its crystal clear water is worth the 10-15 minute hike down from where you park. Of course you can also access the beach by boat. We recommend you take food and water as there are no facilities at the beach.
