Fig Cottage | Sleeps 2 to 4 | from £870 per week

Fig Cottage is a captivating 200 year-old stone retreat, lovingly restored by renowned interior designer Marcus Love. The renovation strikes a beautiful balance—honouring the cottage’s historic character while introducing a calm, artistic sense of comfort and ease.

Tucked away in the peaceful hamlet of Markantonata in North Kefalonia, the cottage enjoys a private, unoverlooked setting surrounded by mature olive and fruit trees. A secluded swimming pool invites long, leisurely days, while gentle sea views shimmer through the landscape, hinting at the nearby Ionian coast.

Inside, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, with antique furnishings, natural textures, and thoughtfully curated details that echo a timeless Mediterranean style. The interiors feel effortlessly relaxed yet deeply considered—perfect for slow mornings, afternoon swims, and lingering evenings under golden skies.

The location offers tranquillity without feeling remote:
   •    A short walk to the traditional village of Antipata
   •    An scenic walk (approx 1 hr's walk) to the charming fishing port of Fiskardo

Fig Cottage is ideally suited to couples, honeymooners, or anyone seeking a romantic escape—where privacy, peace, and natural beauty come together effortlessly.

A place to truly unwind, relax and enjoy a slower pace of life in Kefalonia.

It is a 7 minute drive from the Fig Cottage into Fiskardo where there is a large choice of tavernas and restaurants serving local specialties as well as a number of bars where you can sit and watch the boats come into the harbour. The harbour is lined with small shops and boutiques as well as ATMs, two bakeries, supermarkets, chemist, chandler and the Fiskardo Dive Centre for those wishing to adventure beneath the waves.

The village of Antipata is a 2 minute drive and has a small convenience shop, a little further in the village of Magganos there are two mini-markets with fresh bread daily and a good selection of fruit and veg. In Magganos there are a couple of Greek restaurants including Picnic where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch and supper.

Beaches we like to visit

Within 5 minutes drive

Dafnoudi is a few minutes away by car. A secluded pebble beach known for its crystal-clear turquoise water, great for swimming and snorkelling, but requires a moderately steep, rocky 10-20 minute walk down through a forest from parking near Antipata, making sea shoes essential. It's a wild beach with no facilities, so take water and snacks; expect limited crowds due to the walk, but it can get busy, so early arrival is best for peace.

Within 15 minutes drive

Agia Jerusalem beach is a pebble beach with crystal clear water making for great paddling, swimming and if you like to snorkel it's worth swimming out to the rocks where you will find much more marine life than in the bay itself. In high season sun-beds are available for hire on the beach and there is a taverna serving traditional Greek food.

Alaties beach is small but perfectly formed where you can lap up the sunshine either on the beach itself or on the surrounding rocks. There’s good parking available and a beach bar serving food all day and into the evening where you can watch the sun set with a cocktail in hand.

Emblissi beach just outside of Fiskardo is easily accessible, has great swimming, wonderful views across to Lefkas and Meganisi. There's good parking although it does get busy in July and August.

Kimilia beach is a hidden gem accessible only by boat or by foot by following a winding forest path. We recommend you take food and as there are no facilities at the beach.
